|
| Susan Chanse,
Manager of BESTFed |
|
|
Susan
discovered her love for breastfeeding moments after her son Atticus was
born. Within the first few months of his life, Susan decided that her
future career dreams had changed. Working at BESTFed provides her with
an opportunity to pursue her passion of helping breastfeeding families
while being with her sons full time. She would like to see more
community support for breastfeeding families, and strives to make
BESTFed an atmosphere for advocacy, activism, education, and resources.
Susan lives in
Gilbert with her husband Andrew, and their sons Atticus (born February
2003) and Creeley (born November 2005), their dog Buckley, and their
cat Reggae.

| Cody
Westendorf, Assistant Manager of BESTFed |
|
|
Cody
had some problems breastfeeding in the beginning
but with hard work and dedication was able
to overcome them. Breastfeeding is
now one of the most important things in
her life. She was almost to the point
of giving up when she found the Mommy and
Me support group at BESTFed. There she found
the help she needed to continue breastfeeding.
"I feel without the support of BestFed I
would not be a nursing mother today!!"
Cody was a chef for 7 years prior to having
Chloe and still has a passion for cooking
today. Cody hopes to go back to school
when Chloe is of school age. Until
then she is enjoying being the assistant
manager at BESTFed, supporting nursing women,
and having the chance to spend the time
with Chloe. She moved to Phoenix from
Michigan with her boyfriend Josh in September
of 2004. They welcomed their daughter
Chloe Maylea on May 25, 2005.

| Meet
the BESTFed IBCLC Team! |
International
Board Certified Lactation Consultants
|
|
|
| Lori
J. Isenstadt, IBCLC, CCE, CBA |
|
|
Lori has been
working with breastfeeding women for about 17 years. As a certified
childbirth educator and a certified birth assistant, Lori assisted
hundreds of women with early breastfeeding on a peer counselor level.
Hundreds of moms and hundreds of breastfeeding classes later, Lori
decided to take formal training to become a Certified Breastfeeding
Counselor. As Lori began to understand her limitations as a CBC and
recognize the delicate intricacy of the field of lactation, she decided
to take the plunge and formally apply to the International Board of
Certified Lactation Examiners to become an IBCLC ( International Board
Certified lactation Consultant). Lori was extremely fortunate to find
an experienced and dedicated IBCLC, to mentor her.
Under her mentors guidance, Lori studied and worked with breastfeeding
woman in a variety of settings. Lori spent the next two years gleaning
experiences interning in several hospitals, WIC offices, observing
other IBCLC's in lactation clinics and private practices. Lori
recognized the need for breastfeeding mothers to have ongoing support
in their early breastfeeding lives. Lori worked together with other
IBCLC's in forming hospital based breastfeeding mothers groups. These
groups were highly successful and continue to flourish 5 years later.
In 2001, Lori passed her boards and received the highly respected
designation of IBCLC. Lori shares her days working as an IBCLC part
time at BESTFed and part time at Phoenix Baptist Hospital. Lori lives
in Peoria with her husband Alan of 24 years and her 3 children, ages
21, 18 and 16, all of whom were breastfed.
